East of the Mountains is 88-year-old Tom Skerritt's first-ever leading role, for which he received Oscar buzz.


The film landed on the DGA member-based Best DirectHer list as one of 2021's top 10 feature films directed by women. It was also nominated for "Motion Picture Drama" at the 2022 International Press Academy's 26th Annual Satellite Awards.
